Leaders of World, Traditional Religions Congress Planned in Astana Next Month

IQNA – The 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions will be held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, on September 17 and 18.

More than 100 delegations from about 60 countries are expected to participate in this international congress.

Among the participants will be spiritual leaders of Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, Taoism, Zoroastrianism, and Shintoism, as well as representatives of international organizations, the expert community, political and public figures.

A prominent feature of this global interfaith gathering will be the presence of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Al-Azhar chief Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, and other prestigious contemporary spiritual leaders.

The congress will be held under the chairmanship of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the president of Kazakhstan.

All events will be held in Astana. The Secretariat meeting will be held in the Palace of Peace and Accord, and other events will be held in the Palace of Independence.

The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is held once every three years in Astana. It was initiated by then Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbaev.
